Parenting Moments

A while back Robby had said this to the kids when we were trying to talk them into changing some plans for the day.  I had written it down on a piece of paper that I just came across and I laughed remembering it.  So I thought I would share it.  For those of you who know Robby, I think you will appreciate it!

“You need to be flexible.  You need to be willing to change the plan when the plan gets awesome.”

Addie and Elijah are here to stay with us for 9 days.  We are wrapping up the 4th day and the kids have definitely had their ups and their downs.  We have had a fun night of playing hide and seek.  It was pretty funny because the idea was that we play sardines, but none of them wanted to go look by themselves so they ended up searching for me in a big huddle around the house.  Even Janie and Elijah were searching.  It was super cute listening to them.  With all 5 of them, they looked for a good 10 minutes with no success.  I was thinking we should play that game more tomorrow!  It was quite nice being in a dark closet all by myself!  Haha.  Anyway, they have been playing this new game George got for his birthday tonight.  It was a really cute little thing to watch.  They started playing while I put Jane and Elijah to sleep.  I came down and they were so cute.  Although just as I am writing this George has refused to finish the game due to Oliver not rolling the die correctly and now Addie and Oliver are upset.  So, here we go... the ups and the downs!  Even by the minute sometimes.

It has been a year...

It has been a year since I started keeping my blog up to date. It has definitely trailed off over the months but I am so happy that I have kept it up periodically. It is a great chance for me to post our family life. Whenever I take time to look back, I always wish I posted more often. The days just get away from me and I forget them when I don't record it. So I am happy that I have been doing this at least a bit and hope to keep it up even more regularly!  Here's to another year!

George the Nerd

So for those who know George, he is a pretty serious kid.  But I have to say that there is a sense of humor in George that when it creeps out, he can giggle pretty hard and it is quite contagious.  One day he came and showed us his nerd impression.  It was hilarious, especially with the tooth sticking out.  So he had to do it for everyone at his birthday party and I had forgotten to include it in his birthday photos.  The funniest is that he sways back and forth while he does it.  It is really nerdy!  Way to go, George!

George's 7th Birthday

George wanted a "Science Party" and was lucky to have his cousins, Elijah and Addie, as well as his Uncles, Adam and Shay, and Aunts, Tess and Tirzah here to celebrate.  My Aunt Marsha also came and we were so glad she could be with us.  We missed Deb, as she had a migraine.

It was a full house and super fun.  We conducted the "experiment" of which flavored mentos and flavored soda combo would be the biggest explosion.  With their glasses on and notebooks in hand they made their observations and then got to do one of their own.  The highlight was definitely Uncle Adam volunteering to test it out in his mouth as the kids jumped up and down.  It was super funny.

George is getting so big I just can't believe it.  He is such a good kid and tries so hard.  I really appreciate him and am really just so impressed with him.  I feel very lucky to be his mom.  Thanks to everyone for coming!  We sure had a great time.
