2 Thumbs up from Spain!
2 Thumbs up from Spain! Originally uploaded by ingebretsen We were in Spain last week (Tues. through Saturday) and just really loved... well, of course the culture and the beautiful architecture, but mainly the gelato! We found one particular place on La Rambla, that we could not resist going to more than just a few times! Our favorite part was definitely getting into the parts of the city that were away from the main streets (that were clearly there before cars and roads were really around). There was just such a neat feeling of community with the people and bakeries and all kinds of shops. You could just sit their and soak up this simpler, slower pace of life free from all the hustle and bustle of the roads and taxis and horns that surrounded its borders from afar. It was very peaceful. The buildings were are all super close together and there were paths in every direction. It made you want to explore forever. The only problem is that we were in these places during the afternoon when the shops and things were mostly shut down. We should have been there more at 8 or even 9 when things are all open and people are ready to be out and about for the night. One night we were out till 1:00 am, just because it didn't occur to us that it would be that late. There was so much going on! It was really fun. Maybe it is like that in a lot of major cities. But London didn't seem that way so much to me. I remember walking hte streets after 10:00 or 11:00 and it was hard to find a place that was open to eat. I was just floored the number of places in Barcelona that were open and just how many people were everywhere! It was really fun. A lifestyle clearly not sustainable when you have children to take care of! But man, did we have a fun time together.
